First off, is it really a video game addiction? These signs below are common symptoms.

• He can spend 4-8 or more hours straight playing games-- not just once in a while, but often.
  
• He seems to have little social life outside of gaming. He is spending less time with his friends, family, and you.
  
• He has missed social events, work, or school for gaming
  
• He suffers from headaches, dry eyes, back aches, neck aches, or carpal tunnel from hours on the computer.
  
• He stays up late into the night gaming on work or school nights
  
• He gets irritable, angry, or violent if you ask him to get off his game
  
• He lies about his video game use to you or other people, or makes excuses.
  
• You feel like he cares more about the video games than you
  
• You've noticed his video game use increasing, and him spending more and more time online
  
• When you try to get him off a game, he becomes angry or violent
  
• He has irregular eating or sleeping habits
  
• His has poor hygene
  
• His personal life or job are suffering; his work performance or grades may be slipping, he may be unable to wake up in the morning because of late-night gaming
  
• Playing seems to be more about him "having" to play rather than having fun or relaxing.

Video game addiction is real; it can hurt relationships, marriages, even families. If it's time for him to get help you need to have a serious talk and get him to kick the habit before it comes between you.

Remember, if he really loves you -- you will always be more important than a game! If he refuses to change, ask yourself-- do you want a future with a man who would rather stare at a computer than spend time with you?
